The win at MK Dons has now filled us all with belief that United can still sneak into the automatic promotion places.
And with all the doom and gloom being replaced with an air of festive optimism, Scunthorpe are lining up an assault on Leicester and the rest of the promotion hopefuls and a march to the top of the table.
It was pleasing, not least because of the fact that Andy Wright stepped up to the plate and launched fantastic claim to retain his place for Saturday's home game against Northampton. Fingers crossed that he does keep his place and the center back duo of Byrne and Pearce are given the nod after an impressive display at stadium:mk.
In some ways the performance proved my last article wrong. With Ben May on the field we were still passing the ball well and not just launching it long. Despite not scoring until he was replaced I was pleasantly suprised with the shift he put in.
However I was uninspired by our finishing. MK Dons were as bad as Crewe and how they are above us is beyond me, however a better team could have took advantage of the chances we missed.
Hooper missed a couple of guilt edge chances and Morris should have done better when he had loads of time advancing towards the keeper. Shooting practise is needed before Hartlepool visit, unless our defence holds firm. An all action, high scoring festive clash on the cards?
So now, in theory an ideal month for United to kick start another unbeaten surge up the table. Northampton at home, a home JPT tie against Tranmere and an away game at misfiring Colchester should see 3 wins before our boxing day clash with Hartlepool.
Let Wooly of his leash, attack Northampton like we did Crewe and show the division we mean business. A win on Saturday would take the pressure of the players in what will be a crammed winter period.
And easing past Tranmere will get us closer to a Wembley afternoon we can all look forward to.
