Michael Nelson's strike helped Scunthorpe put the misery of relegation behind them as they grabbed a 1-1 draw.
The Iron, who dropped out of the Championship last season, had to bounce back from James Tunnicliffe's goal to earn a share of the spoils.
It was the visitors who enjoyed the best of the early running, with Jordan Roberston volleying Mark Duffy's cross narrowly over the crossbar.
Then Duffy himself drilled a left-footed shot just past Nikki Bull's upright.
The Chairboys began to apply some pressure, and after Scott Donnelly's corner had gone to waste he looped in a dangerous delivery from open play in the 22nd minute which found the head of Tunnicliffe to score a debut goal. The defender, who signed from Brighton in pre-season, celebrated just the fourth goal of his career.
But Nelson wiped the smile off his face when he levelled the scores before the break, nodding home Michael O'Connor's searching cross. Chris Dagnall had a goal ruled out for offside, after Ben Strevens had seen red for the hosts in the dying moments.
