Swansea overcame the loss of dismissed manager Brian Flynn to beat the Iron in style.
Andy Robinson's 8th league goal of the season brought the Swans back in to the game when he fired in a 40th minute penalty to equalise after Scunthorpe had opened the scoring through Cleveland Taylor mid way through the first half.
"It was a good victory but it is difficult to celebrate," said Robinson after the match.
"The gaffer (Brian Flynn) was a class act and managers like him are hard to find but I think he will be happy with today's result. I have only been a pro for a year so I don't know what to expect from now on." The second half was all Swansea and they went ahead just two minutes after the restart.
Stuart Roberts and Leon Britton combined down the right flank and when the pinpoint centre came over Kevin Nugent flicked it into the corner of the net.
Then it was the turn of new boy Paul Connor to take centre stage, he struck in the 60th and 71st minutes for his first goals for the club after being Flynn's last signing from Rochdale 10 days ago.
The Iron netted a consolation score 10 minutes from time but the Swans deserved this first victory under caretaker manager Alan Curtis.
"The players responded very well although they were really down on Friday after the news of Brian's departure.
"The admiration they had for both Brian and Kevin Reeves meant that they had to put on a good show and they did just that. Everyone did exceptionally well and I said at half time that if we keep our foot on the pedal we would go on and win.
"It was difficult for Paul as he was only signed by Brian last week but he showed that he is a very good player. We have gone off the boil in the last few weeks but now we must try and keep up performances like today's."
