Scunthorpe seal biggest win in 12 years by routing SwindonScunthorpe gave new manager Graham Alexander the perfect start in his first home game in charge with a 6-0 drubbing of Swindon for their biggest win for over 12 years. It was set up by first-half goals from full-backs Conor Townsend and Jordan Clarke - followed by four more in the second as the visitors collapsed defensively.Townsend opened the scoring after 27 minutes when he popped up in the box to fire a left-foot shot past goalkeeper Tyrell Belford for his first goal for the club.On the stroke of half-time Clarke raced free down the right to get in a cross which took a deflection and looped over the back-pedalling Belford into the far corner of the net.Swindon, looking to bounce back from a 4-1 home defeat against Wigan on Friday, had started brightly but could not find a cutting edge up front in the opening half.It got worse for the visitors as they conceded two more in the opening stages of the second half.Winger Hakeeb Adelakun broke into the box from the left to make it 3-0 in the 49th minute by squeezing a shot low into the far corner of the net.And three minutes later striker Tom Hopper took advantage of some woeful defending to force his way into the box and crash a left-foot shot past Belford. As Swindon tried to respond, a good effort from Michael Doughty was tipped over by keeper Luke Daniels. But back came Scunthorpe to make it 5-0 in the 63rd minute when leading marksman Paddy Madden was put free into the box to find the net with a right-foot shot for his 21st goal of the season.Hopper then made it 6-0 in the 76th minute when he forced a close range header past Belford from a cross by David Mirfin. It was Scunthorpe's biggest win since beating Huddersfield 6-2 back in November 2003
