Scunthorpe maintain play-off hopes by beating BuryScunthorpe kept alive their outside chance of gate-crashing the Sky Bet League One play-offs with a hard-earned 2-1 victory against Bury.The opening goal came in the 19th minute when Luke Williams found space on the edge of the box to fire into the bottom corner, before Kyle Wootton added a second shortly before the hour.Substitute Tom Pope got one back for Bury, but the in-form Iron held on for a third-successive home win, while the Shakers finished the game with 10 men as Kelvin Etuhu was shown a second yellow in second-half stoppage time.Williams' goal had set the tone for the Iron but Bury had chances via Leon Clarke, who headed wide, and midfield man Danny Mayor, who was just inches away with a cracking 20-yard drive.Scunthorpe were two ahead when Wootton applied the finishing touch at the far post on 53 minutes to a low cross from Paddy Madden.Nine minutes later Pope threw Bury a lifeline when he headed home from a left-wing corner, while both goalkeepers excelled in the closing stages.Bury's Chris Neal kept out a stinging drive from Hakeeb Adelakun while at the other end Luke Daniels denied the visitors an equaliser, tipping over a close range effort from Mayor
