Sharp turned down a move to Burnley last week, but has now agreed a return to the club where he spent last season on loan - scoring 15 goals in 25 appearances - according to BBC Radio Sheffield.
The forward, 24, moved back to Bramall Lane in 2007 after two highly impressive seasons at Scunthorpe.
