Knill is caretaker manager of the Millers afer Mick Harford was sacked last week, and his first game in charge brought a 2-1 win over Bradford.
But Knill insisted that he and Mark Robins, acting as his assistant, did not make any major changes.
He said: "It was a great win for us, but I don't think I have done anything differently this week. We all thought a win was coming and we did it.
"We were all disappointed when Mick Harford left the club. We all liked him and unfortunate circumstances led to his departure.
"We knew that if we carried on the way we were doing we were going to be in a dogfight and it took the manager to leave for the players to do something about it. They have responded really well but it is just one win."
