He replaced Paul Merson as manager at the Bescot Stadium in February, but
his side look certain to drop to the lowest tier of League football this summer.
They are at the foot of the League One table, five points adrift of safety with just nine points left to play for.
If results go against them, they could be relegated on Saturday.
He told the Birmingham Mail: "I'd very much like to take this club forward.
"There's a lot that needs sorting out but I know a lot more about what the challenge entails now.
"I'm fascinated by it and I'd love the chance to get it sorted. This club has had a difficult season and two or three tough years but I think the slide will bottom out this year."
