"I have done okay at getting clubs out of trouble," said the former Northampton boss.
"That's where my experience is. But I don't choose it by design. Jobs like that are tough because if you fail then it comes back to haunt you. So far I haven't failed but I can vouch for the fact that it's only very hard work that turns situations around. It's all-consuming.
"The incentive is to get out of trouble this time and then rebuild so we are not in this position again.
"Going down this season would not be the end of the world - although it might seem like that to the fans. Sometimes you have to build again from a level below. But that has its risks.
"A couple of seasons ago Northampton were in mid-table when I left them because the new owners wanted to bring in their own man. They went down and haven't got back up yet.
"It's far harder to get back up than people think. So we've got to be looking to rebuild at this level."
Meanwhile, chairman Jeff Bonser has told Broadhurst that funds will be made available to him if he wants to draft in a new striker.
