The 36-year-old was out-of-contract at the Wirral club in the summer, and was allowed to leave as his deal was not going to be extended.
He said: "We'll see how it goes over the next couple of weeks, whether I play on or decide to call it a day. There were four or so midfielders in front of me and at my age if you're not playing there's not a lot of point.
"There is interest from clubs coming up that want that bit of experience but I'll see. I'm not going to be greedy because I've had 20 years so I may explore one or two other avenues."
