Moore was left fuming after his side threw away a 2-0 lead against Bristol City on Saturday, losing the game to their promotion rivals 3-2.
And with Crewe boosted by a win over Bournemouth at the weekend, Moore wants his players to show some leadership on Tuesday night.
"We defended so deeply in the second half on Saturday that we needed snorkels to survive," blasted Moore.
"We were a charity at the back and the team lacked leadership, something that was evident in what was a very quiet dressing room after the game.
"It's not the first time that this has happened to us. We don't know how to close a game up and we need to learn quickly."
Victory at Prenton Park would move Rovers upto sixth in the League One table, the final play-off spot.
Crewe head into the game just four points above the final relegation zone, and know a run of good results would give them valuable breathing space.
