Tranmere back into play-offs

Yeovil often looked the more accomplished outfit against Tranmere at Prenton Park and the thoroughly deserved point after a 1-1 draw probably assured their survival in the division.

It was no surprise when Yeovil went ahead on 67 minutes as Jon Obika found the net off a post from a difficult angle after a link up with Gavin Tomlin.

As Tranmere rallied, Antony Kay saw a free-kick saved and then Ben Chorley headed wide.

But the Merseysiders levelled out of the blue in the 78th minute with a great left-foot strike by Kay from a long throw in by Ryan Shotton.

Peterborough United wrapped up automatic promotion to the Championship thanks to their 12th away win of the season at mid-table Colchester.

Darren Ferguson's men needed to beat Colchester and hope the MK Dons lost at Walsall to ensure their automatic promotion. That dream ticket arrived thanks to Charlie Lee's 40th minute winner and the Dons' defeat.

Gary Alexander rescued Millwall from the dead with a stunning brace to secure a 2-1 win over Leyton Orient in an enthralling London derby at the Den that moved the Lions up to third in the table.

His first, a belter from outside the box on 70 minutes, levelled for the hosts after Simon Church put the O's ahead, before the south Londoners' top scorer headed home the winner four minutes from the end.

Jabo Ibehre's superb strike ended MK Dons' hopes of automatic promotion as Walsall claimed a 1-0 win at stadium:mk.

Leeds United scraped to a win 1-0 win over Hartlepool, thanks to Jermaine Beckford's goal, that means while they head for the play-offs.

Cheltenham Town's relegation to League Two after a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Carlisle United at Whaddon Road.

The draw was of little use to either team as Carlisle must now win their final match of the season next week and hope that either Brighton or Northampton fail to take a point.

Lloyd Owusu claimed a vital point with a late equaliser as  Brighton twice came from behind at Huddersfield.

Northampton Town are within sight of League One survival after a nervy performance saw off relegated Hereford United 2-1 at Sixfields.

Swindon Town
scored a late winner at the County Ground to virtually ensure their survival with a 2-1 victory over Bristol Rovers.

They scored just after four minutes when a collision between Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Steve Phillips and defender Byron Anthony left a loose ball, which Simon Cox pounced on to calmly place the ball into an empty net from 20 yards.

Cox also scored the winner nine minutes from time after Rovers had levelled when Kevin Amankwaah's clearance rebounded off Darryl Duffy's foot and the ball skidded in.

Substitute Lee Barnard fired a Southend United equaliser to deny Oldham Athletic their first win in 11 games.

Barnard was introduced at half-time and made his mark with a cool finish after Oldham went in front through Neil Eardley's penalty.
