The Championship side have reportedly turned down a £3.5million offer from Trotters boss Gary Megson for the Dutch midfielder and Bolton are not prepared to increase their bid.
It is believed that Swans chairman Huw Jenkins is still holding out for £5m for the highly-rated 27-year-old who has not played a competitive game since November when he was sidelined with a serious knee injury.
Bodde is now likely to remain at the Liberty Stadium until January to prove his fitness.
Last month Bolton had an offer of £2.5m, which was thought to have included payments related to appearances, rejected by the Swans.
One player expected to move from the Championship to the top flight is West Bromwich Albion's Paul Robinson. He will sign for Bolton in a £750,000 deal this week.
The Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell is conifdent of adding Tommy Smith, Joe O'Toole and Michael McIndoe to his squad.
Smith and O'Toole would join the Blades from Watford, while McIndoe is currently with Bristol City.
"We are in discussions with all three and I'm sure fans will agree they are all quality players," said Blackwell.
Michael Owen may have ended all ties with Newcastle when he completed his surprise Bosman move to Manchester United on Friday, but hopes Alan Shearer still has a future at the club.
Shearer, who played alongside Owen for England and, briefly, at Newcastle returned to St James Park at the end of last season as manager.
His contract was only until the end of the season and he could not save the club from relegation, but Owen has backed him to be given the managerial seat on a permanent basis.
"Even just in the few weeks that he took over everyone can see that there's something there and he'll be a success in management," he told Sky Sports News.
"He'll be great for Newcastle to have. He's got a real feeling and passion for the club and that's what they need at this time."
