Stamp hits five in 10-1 win

The Cobblers were facing a North Carolina eleven in the SAS stadium and it was the American side who must have been calling mayday as they were an embarrassing 7-0 down by half time.

Stamp opened the scoring in the eighth minute when he blasted a rebound home from Marc Richards' inital effort. Dudfield made it two three minutes later as he knocked a low cross into the American net before Asamoah set up Reeves for his first goal in a Cobblers shirt halfway through the first half.

The fourth was courtesy of a penalty converted by Dudfield again before Stamp received Paul Trollope's cross for the fifth and Trollope got the next goal on 40 minutes with a neat header from Reeves' centre.

At 6-0 up, the Cobblers were nowhere near finished though. A nice piece of skill by Stamp set up Asamoah for the seventh in the 41st and so it was half time.

The home side rallied after the break and got one back but it was soon forgotten as Stamp began to turn it on again. The Beverley born player made it 8-1 with a beautiful 20 yard effort for his hat-trick before combining with Cavill and then Richards for two more to complete the rout.
