A 3-1 win over Tranmere on Saturday helped Southend, who were promoted as League Two play-off winners last season, to third in the table.
Goater said:. "I'm not surprised we are third because we are starting to build a bit of a fortress at home.
"The fans got us through on Saturday. When Tranmere were getting on top they raised their voices and brought another five per cent into our game."
