Luigi De Canio left the club on Thursday after guiding his team to a mid-table spot after it had appeared when he took charge last October that a relegation battle was highly likely.
Zidane, a former France international, is now being linked with the vacancy, but Ecclestone has dismissed all the talk.
"I can say 100 per cent categorically 'no' to stories that we've spoken to Zidane," he told The Times.
"We've known for six months that the coach would be leaving and we have to draw up the shortlist, but Zidane's name isn't on it."
