The 24-year-old has struggled with injuries in the last two seasons and is a free agent after leaving the Red Dragons in March.
Fry said: "Jones is someone that Darren (Ferguson) has played alongside at Wrexham and he identified him as a lad who's worth bringing in.
"By all accounts he's a really good player who's been affected by a lot of injury problems. He's an international who can play in a few positions across the midfield.
"Darren received some good feedback on Mark from people he knows in the Welsh squad. He's had him down to show him around the club and the training ground."
