The Scottish striker joined the club from St Johnstone last season, scoring 12 goals in his debut season in English football.
Seasiders manager Colin Hendry said: "He had a great second part to the season. He struggled towards the latter part with his hernia injury, but he has had that repaired.
"He is a player when I talk to other managers in our division they ask about. There is not one manager who has not asked about him. He is a jack in the box and a box of tricks.
"Sometimes we don't know what he is going to do, sometimes he doesn't know what he is going to do, that's the beauty of having someone like that in your team, he can change games."
