The fee is undisclosed, but is believed to be up to £225,000.
Chief executive Alan Hardy told PA Sport: "We're sorry to see him go, you always are with young talent, but we wish Scott all the best and the initial money we get will help reduce the losses there are going to be this season.
"It will also help justify the continued investment we're making in our youth development system.
