Following Tuesday's 1-0 defeat against MK Dons, the Cobblers could require a point from their weekend encounter with Leeds United to avoid being dragged into the bottom four.
"We need to go to Leeds and show commitment and desire and we have proved this season that we can go to the big grounds against good sides and get results," he said.
"We drew at Leeds in the FA Cup so we can do it. We have to stand up and be counted this week and make it happen for us.
"The away support has been fantastic all season and I have no doubt they will be heard at Leeds on Saturday.
"We can stay up. We are in a better position than Carlisle. We are in the driving seat going into the last game."
