Last year the controversial outfit secured League One safety on the final day of the season with a win over Tranmere, which saw them climb above Torquay.
Saturday's 2-1 win at Chesterfield was their fourth on the trot, pulling them to within two points of Rotherham - who occupy 20th spot in the table.
And Wilson believes his side's fairytale could yet come true, and is targeting wins from his final two games - starting with the visit of Tranmere next weekend.
He said: "I am delighted to come out of the game with three points because at times it needed a rear guard action.
"Goalkeeper Matt Baker kept us in the game and can take full credit for this result. I know that we still have to score, but that helped us get through.
"We dug in and as long as the keeper is in that kind of form then you've got
a chance of winning the game
"Our destiny is in our hands now ,if we can get five wins then we can get out of the bottom four."
