It is the third time that the 21-year-old has put his shoulder out, and is not expected to be fit until the end of September.
Bury assistant-manager Graham Barrow said: "He certainly won't be fit for the start of the season, he should be ready to play towards the back-end of September.
"There was always that danger when he went out on the field that his shoulder was going to pop out again.
"Now he has got that sorted he has a lot of work to get himself fit again."
