The Saddlers are sixth in the League One table, just two points off top spot.
And Merson believes life at the Bescot Stadium has helped him fight his well-publicised battles against addiction to alcohol and gambling.
"There's no better buzz than seeing the lads win a game," said Merson.
"Heaven knows, I've spent enough money looking for a big buzz but there's none better than that."
Meanwhile, striker Matty Fryatt is expected to sign a contract extension within the next week.
The 19-year-old is out of contract at Bescot come the end of the current season but Merson is confident Fryatt will soon sign an extension which would keep him on the books until the end of the 2006-07 season.
