The Foxes hold a 10-point gap over second-placed MK Dons, who beat Stockport County in one of only two other games to be played, and a 14-point advantage over the third-placed Iron.
United were not in action as their scheduled game against Southend United was postponed 15 minutes before kick-off due to a frozen pitch at Roots Hall.
That was of little concern to Pearson, who collected all three points at the Banks's Stadium courtesy of goals from Matty Fryatt, Andy King, Tom Cleverley and Steve Howard.
"We knew that there were a number of other games in the division that had been postponed, so this game gave us the opportunity to put more pressure on our opponents," he told the club's official website.
"I am very pleased that we have overcome another potentially tricky away fixture.
"I thought that we played well. It was a very good performance and all aspects of our game on the evening were pleasing.
"It is important that we try and maintain these standards and look to improve them every time that we play."
