A 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Colchester United was the latest setback to the Whites' promotion hopes, with McAllister's position being called into question.
He told the club's official website: "If we were out of position in the league or unable to pass the ball four feet to each other, then it would be a crisis. I don't think it's quite at crisis level.
"The players are applying themselves and showing determination, but on Saturday the performance as a whole was just not there.
"We got punished for unforced errors and decision-making and sloppy marking at set-pieces - something that we have been paying a lot of attention to in training.
"When you're in these situations as a player or a manager you've just got to grind it out and get to the other end. There's no point sitting in the corner and sulking."
