Leeds to offer Beckford deal

Beckford has 12 months remaining on his existing deal and although chief executive Shaun Harvey revealed he was disappointed by Beckford's agent discussing his contract situation in the media, he will be offered a new deal.

"In simple terms it's not for Jermaine's agent to decide when Jermaine is contracted to us for a further 12 months," Harvey told the club's official website.

"I spoke with Jermaine Beckford's agent on Wednesday and we will be forwarding the offer of a new contract now we know which division we will be playing in next season.

"It's unfortunate that a choice appears to have been made to discuss contract negotiations in public via the media and I'd be disappointed if any Leeds fans interpreted what has been attributed to his agent as Jermaine's desire to leave."

Carlisle United have secured the services of experienced full-back Ian Harte on a two-year contract.

The 31-year-old made three appearances for the Cumbrians before breaking his hand after joining the club on a short-term basis towards the end of the recently completed season.

Winger Andy Monkhouse has put pen to paper on a new contract to remain at Hartlepool United.

The 28-year-old made 51 appearances in all competitions last season and admitted he never wanted to leave Pools.
