Portsmouth have been told their ban on signing players will remain in place until at least July 15.

They are waiting to see if anyone will appeal a company voulntary agreement that would allow them to come out of administration.

The Football League will not lift the transfer embargo until then, as they wait to find who the club's next owners are.

Cardiff City have said they have had no approach for their manager Dave Jones, who has been linked with Hull, who are seeking a permanent replacement for Phil Brown.

The Tigers have said they expect to announce their appointment before the end of the week, but the Bluebirds insist it will not be Jones.

"We have had no approach for Dave from Hull or from anyone else," Cardiff director Steve Borley told the South Wales Echo.

"I suppose it is always the same in that when a manager has a good season, which Dave did last year, their name is going to be linked with vacancies."

The Hull Daily Mail claim that Tony Mowbray, former West Brom and Celtic boss, and Gary Speed are in the frame.

Brian Laws, the Burnley manager, has said there have been no offers for members of his first-team squad.

Steven Fletcher was allowed to move to the Premier League side Wolves, while the Clarets are believed to be frontrunners for the signature of former Scunthorpe loanee Billy Sharp having had an offer accepted by Sheffield United.

"There have been one or two enquiries but nothing to suggest that offers are going to follow for any of our players. We don't want to sell anybody. We don't have to sell anyone," Laws told Burnley's official website.

"The Fletcher deal was fantastic for the club and the player and we couldn't stop him from wanting to play and stay in the Premier League."

Millwall have completed the signing of the midfielder Liam Trotter, who spent part of the 2009/10 season on loan at Scunthorpe, from Ipswich Town.

The Lions also hope to secure the services of Arsenal forward Jay Simpson, who spent last season on loan at the New Den.
