The Terriers continued their recent revival after enduring a difficult start to the season by drawing 1-1 draw at Boundary Park.
Ternent was impressed with his side, who even threatened to claim all three points after taking the lead.
"They've played very well and showed a good attitude. They were bang up for the game," he said.
"Oldham are the best team in the division and we can take a lot of heart from that. The players were terrific.
"I've told the lads that has to be the yardstick for the rest of the season. We set the standard early on and we created quite a few chances, which we do in every game."
