Barlow, who is in charge at the City Ground along with Ian McParland, has overseen five games without defeat since the dpearture of former boss Gary Megson last month.
They beat Doncaster on Saturday, and Barlow reckons a top six finish is still within reach.
He said: "It would need a phenomenal run to make the play-offs. But five games without defeat gives us a foundation and we just want to keep improving and finish the season as high as we can.
"It was disappointing not to keep a clean sheet, but I was absolutely delighted to beat Doncaster because they are one of the teams I really rate."
