"In small periods we showed our quality but in 90 minutes plus we showed huge amounts of endeavour and all the things that lead you to be top of the League," said Calderwood, who quit as Northampton boss to take over at the City Ground in the summer.
"It was an excellent away performance and their attitude and organisation and their own knowledge of the game was huge."
