The 28-year-old dislocated his knee and damaged his ligaments during the 1-1 draw with Bradford in March.
He hasn't played since, but should be given the okay to return to light training this week.
McSporran said: "It has been a long time but everything is going well and ahead of schedule.
"I'm seeing a specialist in the next few days to get the all clear and then hopefully I can start running.
"I'm looking at the next couple of months, if all goes well, to get back in contention to play.
"It's been slow and it's been hard but at least there¹s light at the end of the tunnel now."
