Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire, Coyle said: "It gives us an awful lot of work to do.
"While it's mathematical, we're still in there with a chance. But realistically we need to win all four games to be close to it.
The boss also admitted that sloppy goals have cost them, and is aware of the changes he needs to make next season.
"There's no getting away from the fact we're conceding sloppy goals.
"There are two ways of rectifying that. One is personnel, or it's down to those who are with us improving.
"If you see they're not improving then I think you look at the other option available."
