Carlisle midfielder admits assault

20-year-old McDonagh, of Warwick Road, Carlisle, appeared at Carlisle Magistrates this morning and pleady guilty to assaulting a police officer and being drunk and disorderly.

The charge relates to an incident outside a Warwick Road takeaway on a Saturday night, hours after the Cumbrian club were defeated at Boston United.

The case was adjourned until October 6, and McDonagh was granted unconditional bail.
