The Trinidad & Tobago international is out of favour at the Championship club and has joined the Cumbrians on loan until December 31.
"He'll provide a bit of strength and competition in the midfield and wide areas and we think that we have got ourselves a good player," caretaker manager Greg Abbott told the club's official website.
"He has international experience, is a young player with an excellent attitude and we hope that he has the same kind of impact that the signings of Tim Krul and Michael Liddle have had over the course of the last few games.
"We have all been delighted with them and I am sure that it will be the same with Chris."
