The North Cumbrian club have already been given a three-month extension to pay creditors, but the club say that they have discovered even more debts since the deal was agreed.
Chairman John Courtenay has repeatedly criticised the actions of former owner Michael Knighton, who hid a lot of the debt from him when he was bidding to purchase the Brunton Park club.
A statement released by the club read: "The club has asked for a small extension. New debts were discovered since the first extension was garanted.
"However the directors are now confident that the list of creditors is complete. The new deadline requested is 31 October."
