Robins chairman Steve Lansdown confirmed on the club's official website that the Royals had made an inquiry about Lita, who is an England Under-21 international, but insisted that it was just an inquiry.
"We have not received an offer from Reading for Leroy Lita," said the Ashton Gate chairman.
"All we have had is an telephone call from their end which I have treated as a general enquiry. Nothing has materialised from the call."
Lita, 20, has been linked with a number of clubs following his exploits for the Robins last season, for whom he scored twenty-nine goals.
Manager Brian Tinnion also denied the speculation, telling the Bristol Evening Post: "As far as we are concerned, Leroy will be here next season alongside Steve Brooker and, hopefully, Marcus Stewart."
