The 26-year-old has been plagued by injury problems over recent seasons, but passed a medical on Monday morning.
He was available on a free transfer after being told he had no future at Premiership new-boys Sunderland.
But after failing to earn a starting spot at Bolton or Sunderland after leaving Leeds a year ago, Bridges insists he is no crock.
He said: "I need regular football because I've had a lot of injuries.
"I've played a few games here and there with Bolton and Sunderland but now want to get back to playing regular football again.
"I haven't been injured for two years now and want to play regularly and get going again.
"I had interest from a few other clubs in the Championship, but once I spoke to the chairman and the manager and saw the ground I had no second thoughts."
