Bristol City boss: We went close

The Robins lost their second round tie with the Premier League club 2-1 at Ashton Gate on Wednesday evening, but Johnson claimed his players finished the match the more likely winners.

Midfielder Michael McIndoe saw an injury-time leveller ruled out for offside when extra-time looked on the cards.

"There are very thin dividing lines between success and failure," said Johnson.

"If that had gone in, I would have fancied our chances in extra-time, although to be fair to Michael he thought he was just offside.

"I had a go at the players at half-time because I felt they were being a bit posy.

"It was as though they wanted to look like Premier League players. They weren't anywhere near angry enough.

"In the end, I thought we gave a good account of ourselves. If Sven (Goran Eriksson) says we did well, he means it."
