The 36-year-old has experienced the system at the Masters tournament, the indoor competition for over-35s.
But Windass, who was one of the star men as Middlesborough won the Northern Masters last Sunday, is against the idea.
"Players take liberties with that sort of thing," he said.
"You can foul somebody badly, knowing that you can come back on 10 minutes later.
"I don't think that it will catch on, even if they thought about trying it in the LDV Vans Trophy.
"Professional football is about being competitive but if people are going to be sly, you'll have everybody kicking everybody else."
