The experienced defender was put in charge of the first-team at Valley Parade on Monday when Todd was sacked.
But Todd insists the former England international will find it tough.
"They're expecting David to work miracles. What can he do better than I can do? Nothing," insisted Todd.
"Somewhere along the line he wanted to go into management and now he's getting a baptism of fire.
"He'll see what it's all about. There might be some response from the players, there might not be."
Todd had been in charge at Valley Parade since June 2004, when he replaced Bryan Robson.
The Bantams had won just one of their last 10 matches under Todd, and he left them just three points above the relegation zone.
