The Brazilian clashed with United's Jermaine Beckford in the closing stages of the match at Glanford Park, when the on-loan striker lost his footing.
He played on despite being in clear discomfort, with the Robins unable to replace him having used all three of their permitted substitutions.
But an x-ray revealed he has not broken a rib, as initially feared, and will play against Huddersfield on Saturday.
"At the time I thought it was serious because I was in a lot of pain and I was finding it hard to breathe," the 31-year-old revealed.
"But it is a lot better now and hopefully I will be okay for the weekend."
