Goals from Jon Macken, Anderson da Silva and Hugo Colace gave the Tykes a victory over last season's semi-finalists.
"I brought Jonathan Macken in and he was fantastic and did everything you need your centre-forward to do to enable you to play," he said.
"If you look at the great goals we have scored, there were some great balls into the box, there's a lot to be pleased with."
The Tykes have completed the signing of Slovenia defender Suad Filekovic on an initial short-term deal.
Ian Holloway left the Brittania Stadium content on Tuesday, despite his Blackpool side's 4-3 loss in the third round of the Carling Cup.
The Seasiders led 2-0 with 15 minutes to play at the Britannia Stadium, but eventually lost out to an Andy Griffin strike in the final seconds of normal time.
"It was an absolutely marvellous game. Unfortunately I am a loser but I can take it with dignity because I am proud of my Tangerine Army, the fans who sat behind the goal. They encouraged us and my team responded," he said."At the end I tried to tell the players not to get too down, though they might a little bit. They shouldn't. I don't like saying well done to my team when they have lost but I had to on this occasion."
The match was marred by allegations of racist abuse aimed at the Blackpool forward Jason Euell by a home supporter."I hope the fellow is banned for life. We do not want anything like that. Jason is a footballer - it should not matter the colour of his skin," said Holloway.
"It is disgusting. The stewards believed what Jason said and got him out. I have to thank them for that. People around the fellow should have said they were not putting up with what was said. It is wrong."
Peterborough United's Darren Ferguson was happy to see his side reach the fourth round of the Carling Cup with a 2-0 win at home to Newcastle United.
Goals from Craig Mackail-Smith and Tom Williams gave the Posh a place in the last 16 of the competition at the expense of their Championship rivals.
"I am not going to get carried away by two victories just as I wasn't when we were not picking up the results that we should have done earlier in the season," said Ferguson.
"It is not my style to get emotional about results either way. But it was essential we picked up from where we left off on Saturday and that is exactly what we did."
Nottingham Forest were beaten 1-0 at home by Blackburn Rovers. Billy Davies, their manager, is refusing to accept talk of weakness despite it being the fourth home loss of the season.
"I'm not putting a face on, I genuinely do feel very comfortable, confident and positive I've got to tell you," he said.
"This is a results business I'm in but when you play badly and you don't create chances and you don't dominate games of football, you've got a problem.
"We have been dominating teams and creating chances and outplaying teams for the last number of weeks home and away and that's why I'm not worried."
