The 33 year old sustained the injury during Saturday's clash with Swansea City at the Vetch Field.
"Rob has gone up and was stretching for a ball, I don't know if he has nipped a nerve in his back but it's gone down to his hamstring and it's very numb" Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
"It's very worrying for him at the moment, he's not very happy but it has given someone else an opportunity and Martin Carruthers has come into the side early on and worked extremely hard. He's got himself a goal, let's hope that will give him a lift going into the next game and he will start producing some goals".
"If he starts scoring regularly again, it's going to be a key for us. He looked hungry, looked busy and he was very unfortunate not to get another one."
