Wilcox was tempted to named himself in the starting XI, but decided against it as his role is now on the sidelines.
He did however discuss it at a board meeting last night, and revealed that Chairman Steve Wharton and Director Chris Holland had cheekily offered to play.
Wilcox joked: "The chairman was well up for it and I told him to bring his boot and pads, Chris Holland was unsure - he wanted to know where he would be playing.
"I thought about it (playing), but I think it is a step backwards for myself. I have had my career now and it is time for the younger players to come through.
"It did cross my mind, what with having such a young squad. But I'm concentrating on my coaching and i'll let the kids do it."
