Swansea moved into third place, replacing United, after being held to a goalless draw at Glanford Park by Macclesfield.
Laws said: "We must keep believing. This is the business end of the season, all the hard work could flip, but I have great confidence in my squad, I still think it will go to the last game of the season.
"Although this was two points lost, we should take heart from this game, we were totally committed to getting a result, but lady luck has disappeared, how we could create the chances we did and not score I don't know.
"We just need a little calmness and authority in front of goal."
Silkmen boss Brian Horton commented "I couldn't have asked for more from my team, we looked pretty solid and defended very well.
"In the second half Scunthorpe piled on the pressure even more but Steve Wilson did a great job and this was a great point.
"We must have one of the best defensive records in the league and I'm very satisfied with the result."
