Vital Board meeting at Glanford Park

With a group of local businessmen lead by nightclub owner John Hayes bidding to purchase £450K worth of unallocated shares in the club in what is perceived as a takeover attempt the board must decide today whether to accept the offer.

Current chairman Steve Wharton has repeatedly stated that he is keen to step down from his post, although thr current Iron-Bru.net poll suggests that fans are undecided on the bid. Those who have voted seem split roughly down the middle (as this article is written) as to whether they would want John Hayes as chairman or not.

Whatever the result of the bid, we should find out more later today.

Manager Brian Laws will also be asking for finances to sign Stephen Wright on a longer deal.

The Scottish right-back has played the last three games on non-contract terms meaning he hasn't received anything more than expenses. Despite impressing in his debut match against Preston North End however his two performances in the league have left few fans calling for his name to be added to the already hefty wage bill at the club.

Laws' job as manager would almost certainly have come under debate today had we not recorded a 3-1 victory over Carlisle United on Tuesday evening. If this win is not followed up with another good result at Macclesfield on Saturday though then his future with the club could be called further into question.
