Swann's shares in Gainsborough have been passed over to another party- allowing him to join the boardroom at Glanford Park.
"I am not going to comment on the board of directors or the issues involving Dennis Hobson, as I believe they have to sort their issues out, although I have met with both parties," Swann told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
"Last Friday I resigned as a director at Trinity and my shares have been allocated elsewhere, leaving me free to join Scunthorpe.
"This I hoped was to be ratified at the board meeting this week, but at the last minute the meeting changed to a general meeting, which although disappointing, was not a huge problem and the board meeting has been rescheduled for later this month.
"In the end I met Dennis and discussed my position with the directors.
"As far as I am concerned nothing has changed regarding the initial statement made, by the board, about my appointment, which included being asked to become chairman of Scunthorpe United in the very near future."
The Iron's board of directors are scheduled to next meet on May 24.
