Sharp scored the only goal of the game just before the break on Monday night, sending the Iron back to the top of the League One table - and was given a standing ovation when replaced deep in second-half stoppage time.
He was named man-of-the-match after his tireless running up front, but he was quick to turn the focus on the rest of the Scunthorpe players.
"The boys have done brilliant, I got the goal but the lads were brilliant - we've gone back top of the league and that is what matters," insisted the division's top scorer.
"I was desperate to get a goal, to get my 21st of the season on my 21st birthday was brilliant - although I probably should have got another one.
"These are one of the best sides around, it's tight and there's a long way to go but we've given ourselves a right good chance now.
"We're playing well at the moment, it wasn't a great surface but we still tried to play football and beat a great side.
Sharp also took the opportunity of being live in front of the Sky TV cameras - the match was broadcast live on Sky Sports - to insist he is not angling for a move elsewhere, despite seeing strike partner Andy Keogh move to Wolves last month.
"I'm playing every week and scoring goals, I'm happy here and giving 100 per cent for Scunthorpe United," he declared.
