The draw ended the club's four match losing streak, and Wilcox was happy to start his spell in control with a point.
He said: "At 1-0 with 11 minutes to go we were hoping to grind out the win, we just needed that second goal to keep them off.
"We were excellent in the first half, if we show that kind of commitment we have got nothing to worry about.
"They looked tired, to play seven games in 21 games is a lot to ask.
"The pressure is on the teams below us, we've just got to match their results and I'm confident we can do that."
Leyton Orient were left without a win in eight games, but were happy to take a point out of the match.
Manager Martin Ling said: "I'm happy with a point, we gave their midfield man (Sparrow) too much space for their goal and that put us on the back foot.
"They dominated the first half, but we took over in the second and were very happy with the result."
