Iron manager Brian Laws has his eye on two young players - Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp and Rangers winger Tom Brighton.
Both could be on their way to Glanford Park in season-long loans, but both are currently needed by their club's.
Sharp has been recalled by Sheff Utd as cover for their pre-season campaign, but manager Neil Warnock is looking to bring in another forward and the youngster will return to GP next week.
Brighton meanwhile is on his way to Holland with the Rangers U21 squad to take part in a pre-season tournament.
The Ibrox giants are short of players for the competition, but Brighton will also be able to link up with the Iron from the weekend.
Trialist striker Dean Crowe has been told he has no future at the club, but expect to see at least one of Sharp and Brighton wearing claret and blue next season.
And if the finances are right, both could be spending the season with the club.
